And, coordinating the colors in your home will make you feel comfortable and create a sense of peace and harmony. \u00a0\u00a0Applying good color flow throughout your home is an excellent way to achieve balance and connection from one space to another. \u00a0Choosing the perfect colors for you home is also an important decision. \u00a0One common suggestion for choosing your color palette is to use the colors from a favorite object in your home: a painting, the couch, or a piece of pottery. \u00a0\u00a0Then, when choosing coordinating colors throughout your home, it can be helpful in to visit your local paint store or search online expert advice. \u00a0Below are several colour coordination tips from top Canadian designers Sarah Richardson, Jane Lockhart, and Debbie Travis.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Sarah Richardson<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sarah Richardson, a designer and television personality, suggests that painting your walls in a rich mix of layered colours will add character and personality to your home. \u00a0Her first suggestion is to pick fabrics for your bedding, curtains, etc., that have your favourite accent colours. \u00a0Then match the wall paint to this fabric. \u00a0Always apply darker paint shades to the lower portion of the wall, perhaps below an installed chair rail, because dark paint up high makes the ceilings appear lower. When mixing and matching colours, select shades that all have a similar tonal intensity, this will create a natural flow from one area to the next. \u00a0And, to maximize the multi-hued paint palette, paint your baseboards, trim, chair rail and any crown molding white.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Jane Lockhart<\/h3>\n<p>According to Jane Lockhart, a professional interior designing in Ontario, the key to fantastic room to room color is lots of intensity and lots of tone, meaning grey.<\/p>\n<p>Lockhart said, \u201dThe color on your wall should not feel like it is going to overrun you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Below are several of Jane\u2019s tried and true paint colors that will create balance and harmony in your home include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Beige Color<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Smokey taupe by Benjamin Moore, is a beautiful neutral grey beige that won\u2019t go pink, \u00a0apricot, or peach and is always guaranteed to look good.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grey Color<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jane prefers a warm grey that won\u2019t appear blue. \u00a0\u00a0Benjamin Moore\u2019s Rockport grey or historical colors are an excellent choice for a warm grey.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blue Color<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jane explains,<i> \u201cWhat is challenging about blue is blue paint will always get bluer once painted on the wall, which can take on the look of a boy&#8217;s bedroom. \u00a0Good choices for blue paint are Morning Fog by Martha Stewart and Benjamin Moore\u2019s historic colors.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>White<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Choosing a white paint that won&#8217;t appear yellow, blue or dingy is a challenge. \u00a0Taylor Chalk by Martha Stewart will not yellow. \u00a0Simply White by Benjamin Moore is nice, warm and will not appear dull against hardwood floors.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Debbie Travis<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Debbie Travis, a British-Canadian television personality, self-taught interior decorator, and former fashion model, gives her time-tested suggestions for working with colour in your home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i>Travis emphasizes,\u201dThe right colours in your home will have a powerful and positive impact on how you feel every day; and, \u00a0today\u2019s home\u2019s open-plan designs make it essential that rooms can coexist in their colors and designs.\u201d <\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For instance, the kitchen, while once hidden behind a closed door, is now a place where living, lounging, dining and cooking coexist. A result of this is that kitchen products and colors must now blend in with the adjacent rooms.
