Summer is finally here, and things are beginning to open. Now, there are several great ways to get outside in Whitby this season while remaining safe and healthy! Below we’ve listed five of our favourite outdoor activities. Read on to learn how you can enjoy the great outdoors this summer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Visit the Port Whitby Marina<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Port Whitby Marina<\/a> is located on a natural harbour on Lake Ontario and offers sailing, kayaking, fishing, and paddle-boarding. You can also relax in the clubhouse or explore the waterfront by going for a walk along the Waterfront Trail. There’s plenty of ice cream shops to stop along the way, and you can even have a picnic at Kiwanis Heydenshore Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stroll Through a Designated Heritage Conservation Area<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Another great way to get outside is by visiting the heritage village of Downtown Brooklin. As a designated heritage conservation area, you’ll find some of the most magnificent architecture in the city. Even the boutiques and restaurants are housed in old picturesque buildings and make for fun stops along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bond With Nature at Lynde Shores Conservation Area <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Lynde Shores Conservation Area<\/a> has eight conservation sectors that are open from dawn until dusk! These places are well known for wildlife, such as migrating waterfowl and shorebirds. Walk along one of their designated trails to explore the conservation area, which is suitable for hikers of all ages! You can even stop for a picnic at one of several tables in the area close to the main parking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Play a Round of Golf <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Did you know Whitby is home to seven golf courses in and around the city? In fact, the oldest club is the Pickering Golf Club<\/a> but the most prestigious is the Whitevale Golf club<\/a>, a world-class member-owned club. No matter what level of player you are, playing a round of golf is ideal for getting outside this season. With no shortage of golf club options such as Deer Creek Golf Club<\/a>, Cherry Downs Golf Club<\/a>, and the public Watson’s Glen Golf Club<\/a>, you’re sure to find a course that’s perfect for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spend the Day at the Beach<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nothing says summer like a day at the beach! Luckily, Whitby’s scenic location on Lake Ontario means it’s the perfect place to relax while being close to amenities like the Whitby Marina, shopping, and restaurants. We love Iroquois Beach<\/a> located right across from the Port Whitby Harbour, because of its long sandy shoreline and vast green space! Lion’s Promenade<\/a> near Whitby Harbour is also a beautiful beach for walking, enjoying a picnic, or throwing a frisbee. Just be sure to stay 6 feet away from others while enjoying your day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
